So this week I have mainly been creating coins…. I looked around to see if I could find any info on ways to do it in a realistic manner and the only things I really found were how to create cartoony, shiny or perfect coins. This wasn’t really what I was after so I set about building my own. I then found googling brought not so many particular great images of coins….
Due to this, I decided to take my own. Using a Canon 550D with an 18-55 lens and a 13mm extender I rigged a simple 2 light system to get rig of the shadows as much as possible but I was amazed at the detail that showed up in the pictures that you really couldn’t see just by looking at them. These coins were the best condition ones I had!
These are low res versions. You can see a tutorial of how to create realistic looking coins using Cinema 4D here. It also includes the high res versions of all of the coin faces with that tutorial.
Below are a few images showing how I got on. They may not be perfect but I’m pretty happy with them.
