In this quick tutorial we will take a look at how to create a sliced orange peel style sphere thing. I have no idea as to what you would actually call this but either way this is a pretty useful technique. all made possible using the tracer object. There are a ton of other uses for this so hopefully you will actually find this one quite useful! Perhaps you have another method to achieve the same result? Let me know.
or, you can project a helix primitive onto a sphere and use resulting spline to extrude a circle along it. then use boolean (sphereextusion) intersecting part of spehere’s surface will be a nice spiral “peel”. Also, this way you can use scale function for the profile shape in spiral sweep, so that you get nice and rounded shape for the endings 🙂
thanks for the tutorial its awsome
Great Tutorial, I learned something new.
I was wondering how would I upload my ending result.
Hey man, great work there.
Well, am new to C4D and I rebuilt the “thing” and added a text
to make it look cooler.. check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dE4TUzAITI
So, I thought of making it do the spinning, drop down text and crack… of sort.
Basically, I need you to give so more ideas and tips on the animation part.
Thanks, big up yourself.
Easy and fun to follow as usual! Will particularly take note of your quick texturing and render techniques at the end. Many Thanks!
Your are funny and a genius too! Thanx a lot!
