In this brand new tutorial and slightly delayed first of the year we take a look at building a simple speaker and using a sound effector to animate it in time to some music. I then end up getting carried away and what was supposed to be a pretty short tutorial ended up taking quite a bit longer. I started messing about with dropping balls bearings into the speaker, then we take the fully rendered sequence into after effects and put that together.
Hopefully it’s something that you will find useful, I don’t doubt that it’s been covered before many times but I really like the idea so I thought it would be a good subject to cover.
If you make anything using the principles shown be sure to put them up on one of the social media sites!

Hi,
I just watched your tutorial on building a speaker with a sound-effector. I would like to take it a step further and wondered if you might have any advice.
What I would like to fix the position of the outside edge of the foam surround piece, and attach the inside edge to the cone so it will behave like a real speaker would (via armstrong). Is there a way to do that? I don’t need a lengthy tutorial, just a few tips on whether or not it can be done, and what tools I would need to bone-up on to achieve this/
Thanks
Joe
