Cinema 4D – Quick Tip – Motion Camera Basics

As promised in the last tutorial I would find out how the motion camera from Cinema 4D R14 works and do a quick guide to get you started. It is brilliant if you just want to add a bit of subtle realistic camera shake to your scene. This is by no means a be all and end of of the motion camera but it should at least get you started playing with it!

Cinema 4D Tutorial – Vortex Text Reveal

Hi Guys, Sorry I have been quiet lately. Been mega busy with work, extra curricula work and various other stuff… All sucking up my time! I wanted to do something fun so for this tutorial we look at using MoGraph to make a ton of cubes fly around in a vortex before making up some text then finally coming crashing to the floor! Lots of fun stuff in here.. There is definitely some useful tips to be found! I also decided that on this one I’d include an extension tutorial with how to actually render and composite the animation in after effects. This way its optional!

Extension Tutorial:

I decided to add an extention on to this tutorial, it follows the previous tutorial on how to create a super cool vortex text reveal. Here we go into the render settings and compositing in after effects.

Light Bulb Model – Speed Breakdown – Cinema 4D

For a bit of fun, inspired by the speed breakdown of the ring I made the other day I thought I’d set myself a time limit and see if I could model, texture and light a bulb in no longer that 1 hour. No rehearsal, literally just do it. I then sped it up to 2 minutes.

The bulb and the screw part are made up of loft nurbs and the wires are made of spline nurbs then the middle holder is just a modeled cube. At the end I rendered it once with the Physical Renderer then again with the standard so I could see at the difference. There wasn’t much really, but the physical renderer seemed to handle the transparency.

Naturally I just used Infidio Pro to light it as it makes lighting a scene super quick but also perhaps to enhance it a bit you could use global illumination and put a luminance texture onto the coil then actually light the scene from that. However I’m not sure I would have got that first time within the hour! Definitely something to play with!

10 Great Hints for Cinema 4D (Beginners)

In this amazingly exciting video I go through 10 of my favorite hints and tips for Cinema 4D. These are all simple and often over looked features that I use all the time. From creating square tubes to a bunch of useful shortcut keys. Hopefully there is something in here that may help you out.

Also please post in the comments any of your favorite hints! If I get another 10 good ones I’ll make another video!

Clock Clock White – Cinema 4D

I saw this fantastic video of a real clock designed by Humans since 1982. I just had to build it in C4D! Made using simple shapes and light with Infidio Pro. The next challenge is to actually make it work! :)   Xpresso much!!!

Cinema 4D Ring Model Breakdown

Never created a breakdown or speedy version of anything I have done before so I thought I’d start nice and simple. This is a super quick breakdown of myself making the model of my ring that I posted on twitter the other day. You see me model the ring, make and add the textures, light the scene with Infidio Pro and then configure the camera for the physical renderer. It took a total of 14 and a half minutes from start to finish. This video condenses that down into 1 minute. All just for a bit of fun.

If you ever fancy doing anthing like this or have already done so then I’d love to see it! Stick a link in the comments!

Cinema 4D Tutorial – How to Create a Dynamic Spring

In this thrilling tutorial we look at creating a dynamic spring that actually shows in the render and works with the dynamics system. This came about after I was creating an exploded locking mechanising for an advert. Cinema has the spring connector which works wonderfully, however it doesnt show in the render. In order to get round this I created a helix spline with a sweep nurbs and then tied that to the position of the top part of the spring. Hey presto a working spring that shows in the render and is completely dynamic! Check out the example below for a real quick idea of what I mean.

Dont forget that I love seeing the stuff you guys create, if you use this for anything be sure to stick it on my Facebook page or my Twitter!

Cinema 4D Tutorial – Cool Looking Plastic and Glass Type

In this Cinema 4D tutorial we go through creating a cool text effect where the glass front is separate from the hollow plastic backing.  We have a look at a bit of simple Xpresso which enables really easy changes to the text. Next we light the scene and put the bolts and screw holes in.

I can now add that the creator of the original image is Jon Buckly and his site is http://www.jonbuckley.com

Please leave me feedback and I’ve love to see your creations!
